Greenwood was raised in Toronto. Greenwood has been a student of martial arts and dance. She was a vocalist and studied musical theatre in Canada. She started her acting studies in a variety of schools, including"the "Professional Actors' Lab", "Jason Fraser Studios", "Etobicoke School of the Arts" as well as at "University Settlement Drama Group". The University of Toronto awarded her a bachelor of science degree in the year 2006. Her first role onscreen was in a low-budget Canadian film called Pinkville.
