The journalist spent more than a decade covering sports for The Washington Post, including tennis, football, and basketball. Nichols spent nine years at ESPN which was where she earned the network two Emmy Awards. Her Monday Night Football coverage as a team reporter was an integral part of her job for the network. After leaving ESPN, her next destination was CNN as well as Turner Sports. Unguarded - Rachel Nichols - was her first show that was self-titled, which aired each week for a week on CNN International. The show was watched by more than one billion viewers throughout the world. During this time Nichols reported on TNT's NBA broadcasts which included playoffs, regular season, and All-Star broadcast teams. Also, she reported for TBS covering baseball and golf broadcasts and Final Four broadcasts on CBS. Only the second woman has been picked from over two hundred nominees in the 42-year old history of this award.
